I am Farid
I fled Afghanistan as an unaccompanied minor. After a long journey, I arrived in Switzerland at the age of 15. Through hard work I completed an apprenticeship as a healthcare specialist – even though as a child I was never able to go to school.
Now the time has come for me to help the people of Afghanistan. That is why I founded the association “Humanitäre Hilfe Afghanistan”.
How it all began
When Afghanistan’s old government fell and the Taliban took power, hopelessness and chaos spread across the country. Girls were banned from school beyond the sixth grade, and women were no longer allowed to work. For many widowed women – often the sole providers for their families – this tied their hands completely. Some families were forced to sell their children in order to feed the others.
The four of us, Afghans living in Switzerland, sat down together and looked for solutions. First we organized volunteers in Afghanistan whom we could trust to make sure our donations reached the right people. Then we began collecting donations – initially from friends – and from December 2021 onward provided first emergency relief to 15 to 25 families every month.
Out of that emergency relief grew the projects we run today: sustainable support that enables families to provide for themselves, and school classes for children who would otherwise have no access to education.
Our promise
The people of Afghanistan need our support more than ever. We are not losing hope: in the name of the association Humanitäre Hilfe Afghanistan, we support as many people as we can – directly, personally, and without administrative costs.
